An Honest Review of Micromax Canvas Infinity!

Micromax Canvas Infinity was launched amidst a lot of hype in August 2017, and the device has been garnering effective reviews. So, how well does it perform? The review is here for your help.

The basics

Micromax Canvas Infinity has been promoted as the first smartphone within 10k to have a 18:9 display. The 5.7-inch screen is pretty decent, but don’t expect the best experience with regards to viewing. Yes, this is the cheapest as far as the display is concerned, but if you don’t mind paying a tad more, LG Q6 might fit the bill. LG Q6 price is around 16k, keeping the discounts in consideration. Coming to performance, the phone runs on a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor with 3GB of RAM, and while the performance isn’t the best in class, it isn’t bad per se. You have 32 GB onboard memory, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.

Camera and other details

Micromax has designed this phone for the selfie lovers. On the front, the phone comes with a 16MP shooter, which works well even when you are on the go. On the rear, you get a 13MP variant, which again isn’t bad. The device runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, with My Launcher on top. If you talk about bloatware, there’s a lot here, so the software performance isn’t as great as stock Android. However, Oreo update has been confirmed for this device.  As for the battery, the device has a 2900mAh battery with a standby period of 420 hours, and in that department, Micromax Canvas Infinity scores better than expected. All the expected sensors are in place, including Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, and Accelerometer. The camera app isn’t half bad, but watch for all those app installations that are already there on the device.

Should you buy Micromax Canvas Infinity?

Micromax Canvas Infinity is great for those who want to experience the 18:9 display at a price lower than 10k. The display and cameras are some of the highlights, but when it comes to performance, the device doesn’t really go beyond some of the others in the same range. Redmi 4 or Nokia 5 packs in better software for a price very similar to Micromax Canvas Infinity.

Micromax Canvas Infinity is available at a discount on some stores online, so check that out. If you don’t mind the smaller issues, this is a device worth spending.
